Congratulations Enya!

Blackwater Leisure Centre's Swimmer of the Year

We wanted to round the year off with some good news stories, so we asked all of our Swimming Teachers to nominate those distinctive, very special swimmers who deserved a bit of recognition.

They were asked to identify swimmers on our lesson programmes (children and adults) who have displayed positive attitudes, unyielding determination or, have put in efforts over and above their peers.  They may have overcome personal adversity or achieved something unexpected or challenging.

Enya Smith - Blackwater Leisure Centre's Swimmer of the Year 2022
Nominated by her teacher, Lillie Smallcombe
Enya joined Blackwater Leisure Centre on the Level Water Program. Since joining, Enya has made great waves from her first splash.
Enya is registered blind, which has been a steep learning curve for me and Enya. I am a firm believer that every visually impaired person has the right to participate in sport. Since commencing swimming, Enya's self-esteem has grown with her goal clearly set for the future around wanting to compete in swimming.
Enya is a little star who is positive and inspirational to all!
