As our Warm Hubs incentive continues, the team at Places Gym Preston are doing everything they can to offer more to those in need.

‘Warm Hubs’ was set up across several of our centres nationwide in reaction to the current economic climate. Participating centres have been getting involved in a number of different ways; from giving out hot food and beverages along with a warm place to sit, with some centres offering warm showers and support sessions.

Last week, Places Gym Preston announced that they too will be introducing the warm shower provision to their local community from this week.

Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday between 10:00-15:00, members of the community can pop in for a warm shower.

Adhering strictly to the Lancashire Warm Space Charter, the centre will ensure all visitors will experience the following:

  • A warm welcome
  • No judgement
  • Respect and dignity
  • Accessibility
  • Safety
  • Confidentiality and information

  • Healthy Communities Manager, Murray MacLennan said, ‘whilst there are other warm spaces in the local area, none of them offer warm showers, so we are delighted to fill that gap for our community.’

Along with the additional shower offering, Places Gym Preston has also set up collection boxes in their foyer to be donated to the warm space sessions at Clayton Brook Community Centre and Church. The staff at South Rings and Places Gym Preston have been busy donating anything they can, and we would now like to extend our reach to the wider community.

The centre is encouraging donations of non-perishable foods and winter coats for those who are really struggling to make ends meet to put food on the table or dress up for the ongoing cold weather. Residents who attend the warm spaces can then access what they need from the boxes directly, speeding up the process of going through an agency or charity.

This incentive will carry into the beginning of Spring to ensure that our community continues to be supported throughout.

We have already had a large number of donations and are absolutely delighted to see our community coming together to give a little to those who have less during this time.

Please keep an eye on our socials for further updates and ways you can get involved.
